Hmmm...The day was bright as ever and Prem was in his usual thoughts of life, philosophy and of course the adventure sports that he had planned for the weekend. He tried to run through his calendar to make sure he's not missed out a friends birthday or a relatives anniversary and that's when he saw the days were closing on for his wedding. He closed his eyes for a moment and returned back with a hush.
Life sometimes is a struggle between what you want and what it offers.Lessons once learnt may not be of any help when life gives you the same puzzle to solve and you are lost again and more often you end up with the same life lock situations that you cannot navigate.
Prem at work was at the best and had won the confidence of all his colleagues.Meeting deadlines, handling training sessions for the new hires, drawing performance plans and charts, attending leadership development programmes, six sigma projects and most of his weekend plans would end up in doing an extra shift at work.He would always say "I have enough time to rest in my grave" , impressive and at times the most annoying statement that one would want to hear.
Trying hard to hide the conversation with his fiancee, Prem would be to himself and often in those pensive moods.Family was a major issue with his fiancee.Prem being family oriented and the other more towards materialistic.Their conversation over the phone would always end up with material trying to win over moral or vice versa.Though firm in his approach towards life, people that he had influenced and his long never ending speeches of philosophy, he believed he could change the other.
More often than not we try to change the situations, the surroundings, the people around us because all the time our thoughts are as our watches are-no ones perfect but each believes his own.
Was Prem a puppet in the hands of time or was it time itself was the big question.Pondering over these thoughts he never felt hungry nor did he want to rest.At last he had to say "No" - family first and break the vows of engagement.
Sad but true , some things are better late than never.
Mitra, 1 thing I've learnt to apply is - We cannot change others, we've to change ourselves.
