After much internal conversations Our group of cousins decided to head out to Kalyani NisargaDhama in Nittur.
Departure was on 30th Oct 2009 at 2230 Hrs.Arrival at the camp was without any pain with a few exceptions of humps and bumps of the bad roads after Shimoga. We were greeted with a warm smile from the staff who showed us to the cottage.
Without wasting any time we finished our morning routine and were seated at the traditional dining table.Hot Kadubu (Idly made in a leaf) and chutney of onions was a feast indeed.
After breakfast we had our share of childhood fun with the swing and the see-saw.
Manjunath head of NisargaDhama-popularly known as Manjanna caught up with us and helped us plan the day ahead. He's definitely a person that you will like at the first meeting.
It was a wonderful jeep journey to Idlumane falls.Mind you it's only a jeep that can take you there and not any of your fancy cars. It's a small trek to the base of the falls. The falls is in seven steps and people who really want to enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer have to take the pain of walking through the falls - a fifteen minute trek. At the end of which I'm sure unconsciously your mouth shall be opened at the sight that awaits you. Idlumane falls has a height of about 70Ft and it's a bliss to stand at the foot of the falls for the shower of your life.
It was lunch time when we returned to the camp and though not an excellent menu it was good enough to fill our stomach. After a quick nap we headed to Kodachadri in a jeep. This is one trip that would be in your memory for long as it's nothing less than the costliest roller coaster ride that you can pay for. After we reach the peak it's a trek to Sri Shankaracharya peeta which is about twenty minutes. The view of mountains and valleys is just amazing and if you have enough time it's also a beautiful sunset point.
After returning to the camp we had a camp fire around which we played some songs and after dinner it was good night's sleep.
Next day morning it was boating time in Sharavathi back waters which we all enjoyed. From there we headed out to Kollur temple and after darshan on run to Bangalore.
It was a great trip in terms of the journey, the stay, the jeep trip, boating and most importantly very economic.
